Founded in 1978 as the Carroll County Sexual Assault Center, our agency began as a grassroots effort led by local volunteers responding to the urgent need for support for survivors of sexual violence.
CARE provides hope, healing, and empowerment to all survivors of sexual violence and their loved ones through counseling, advocacy, resources, and education.
We employ licensed therapists who have specialized training in working with victim-survivors and their loved ones who have been affected by sexual violence. For a period of time, all therapy services are free of charge.
We strive to advocate for victim-survivors through collaboration, choice and empowerment. We support all victim survivors in their goals for healing by offering information, education, resources, respect and cultural competency.
We provide trauma-informed, victim-survivor centered approach to care coordination. We provide support for survivors and their loved ones using mental health, social, medical, police and legal services.
We strive to educate our clients and the community on a multitude of topics, including the impact of trauma on the mind and body, individualized self-care and healthy coping strategies. We educate on a victim-survivor’s legal and medical rights, options and offer guidance through the process related to their case.
