Accompaniments
Accompaniment Services
We're here to walk alongside you through every step of your journey.
Our certified staff members and advocates accompany victim-survivors at the hospital, police station, courthouse, and beyond. We can help you and your loved ones understand what to expect, answer your questions, and access the information you need to make informed decisions that feel right for you.
Hospital Accompaniments
After a sexual assault, it can be difficult to know what to do next, especially when it comes to medical care and whether to pursue a Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (SAFE). We are available 24/7 to accompany victim-survivors at Carroll Hospital Center for treatment and, if desired, a SAFE. We also provide each victim-survivor with a care bag containing helpful resources, hygiene essentials, and comfort items.
Police Accompaniments
Deciding whether to report a sexual assault is a deeply personal choice, and only you can decide what feels right for you. If you choose to report, a CARE advocate can provide support throughout the police interview and investigation process, providing a compassionate presence every step of the way.
Court Accompaniments
Appearing in court can feel intimidating and emotionally overwhelming. We accompany victim-survivors to court proceedings relating to their experiences of sexual violence, including peace or protective order hearings, criminal trials and sentencing, and civil hearings. We can also assist with completing and filing court documents for peace and protective orders, as well as preparing a victim impact statement.
Other Accompaniment Services
Our support doesn’t end at the hospital, police station, or courtroom. Whether you’re navigating a school disciplinary hearing, workplace process, or another institutional proceeding, we’re here to walk alongside you.
